The ShoppingGives team is always innovating new ways to make our Change Commerce app experience even better for our merchant partners, and we’re thrilled to announce that we have some new and exciting features on the way!

As part of this feature release, we couldn’t be more excited to bring our Shopify merchant partners an all new way to make updates and customizations to the ShoppingGives donation widgets! This new functionality comes alongside the Shopify release of sections to all Shopify Online Store 2.0 Themes to make Shopify Themes more customizable than ever before. This new release also means that the Change Commerce app is fully compatible with Shopify 2.0.

With the introduction of sections, Shopify merchants can add the Store Donation on Purchase and Customer Round-Up donation widgets with a simple drag-and-drop functionality, making it easier than ever before to integrate ShoppingGives’ donation widgets onto a website. Merchants will also be able to preview it on their website in real-time and customize areas of the donation widget all on their own.

With the introduction of theme sections, users of the Change Commerce app can now customize elements of the ShoppingGives donation widgets like:

  • Font picker
  • Title font color
  • Main text color
  • Link font color
  • Background color
  • Border color
  • Border radius
  • Button radius
  • Custom title
  • Checkbox color
  • Only applicable for the round-up donation widget

All Change Commerce app users can utilize this functionality as long as they are on a Shopify O2.0 Theme. For merchants who are not currently on a Shopify O2.0 Theme, they can easily follow the instructions to upgrade.

How to Get Started

  1. Login to your store via the Shopify platform and choose the Change Commerce - Donation App.
  2. Navigate to Sales Channels in the bottom left panel and choose Online Stores and Themes.
  3. Once you see Themes, choose Actions.
  4. Then click Edit Code and choose the Customize Theme button.
  5. Now you are ready to customize your widgets!

Key Updates to the Change Commerce Experience

Widget Settings

With the release of theme sections, current users of the Change Commerce app will notice some changes in their Widget Settings of the app. Change Commerce app users are now empowered to have more control over where the donation widget will appear on their website and have three options for widget placement— theme section, automatic placement, and manual placement. These updated widget placement options will make it easier for Change Commerce merchants to customize where they want to place the donation widget on their product, cart, and checkout pages.


Donation Embedded Confirmation

Users of the Change Commerce app now have a new way to share the donation confirmation as well. In addition to the donation confirmation email and window, the donation confirmation section can be embedded on the purchase confirmation page by defining a CSS selector to target. The difference between the confirmation window and new embedded option is this experience is embedded on the page versus being a pop-up on the screen. Learn more about this new functionality.


Customer Round-Ups for Shopify POS

Merchants selling with Shopify POS in their brick-and-mortar and pop-up stores can now invite their shoppers to join them in their giving back initiatives to causes they care about by rounding up their purchases, making an even bigger impact, together! With a focus on simple (yet impactful) support for Shopify POS, brands can truly make an impact alongside their customers at checkout with freedom and flexibility to give back easily and confidently with ShoppingGives each and every time.

This new feature is helping our merchant partners expand their giving strategy as their business grows, and we're excited to support them along the way! We also understand the need for transparency into the donation granting process and wanting to know where your pledged donations stand at any given moment. With the release of donation badge statuses, you will be able to track the status of donations that have been generated by your store in real-time.

Global Settings Page Refresh

We’re also updating our Global Settings Page within the Change Commerce app to make the experience friendlier for our merchant partners to navigate through their app settings and campaigns. This will also make it even easier for merchants who are new to Change Commerce to get started with the app!

Additionally, we’re making it easier for our merchant partners to provide feedback on how we can improve the app experience. Feedback is important to our team and we’re excited to make it more accessible to our partners so they can share their thoughts on how we can make improvements.

Finally, we love being able to celebrate our partners’ accomplishments, and this updated experience is going to enable us to celebrate our merchant partners’ giving milestones in new and fun ways!
